I headed to Joann's and wandered around. To my surprise I found a 'ruffler foot' for 12 bucks. It's just a cheap generic one but on a grad students budget that's all I can handle. AND it works like a dream! As soon as I got home I tried, key word tried, to use it. I didn't realize the fabric needs to go between the two metal things instead of under it all like a traditional 'foot'. Once I did that I was ruffling away.
My lovely grandma gave me yards and yards of muslin, so I decided to use that to make the pillows. I plan on dying it eventually but I don't know what color to commit to. I need my mom's help! I always do everything blue or green and it's beginning to look monotone.
I cut the muslin a little larger than the pillow and sewed up three sides. In the past I made an envelope style case but I decided to not do that this time. After sewing the sides I cut three strips of fabric about 6 inches wide. Then I ruffled down the center of all of them. Afterwards I sewed 3 ruffle strips on to the outside of the pillow case all towards the right side.
Easy as pie!
P.S. Any thoughts on the two bedspreads above? I am thinking I will do the pink one, but in grey instead. However, I can not decide, I want them both!
